Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Toni Gonzalez Collins (born in Mexico) is the Mexican American journalist. Her employer is ESPN and is a SportsCenter News Anchor. She started working for ESPN in the year 2016. She is a daughter of Maria Antonieta Collins, a television reporter. Antonietta was bilingual from age nine. Her skill was instrumental in helping her land her first job as a an assistant to the production team at Univision Miami and Univision Miami, where she assisted the production of programs including Nuestra Belleza Latina and Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud. In 2009, the CBS affiliate in St. Petersburg hired her in the following year as a sports reporter. After 2009, the news reporter relocated to Rio Grande Valley Texas where she worked for KNVO TV 48 Univision as and Fox2 News. In 2009 she made the move into Rio Grande Valley, Texas in which she was an editor for KNVO48 Univision and Fox2 News. Also, she was a substitute for anchors of sports and weather forecasters. She then anchored and reported on Univision's Dallas affiliate Deportes 23 where she was assigned more responsibility. She produced pieces about MLB's ALDS ALCS and World Series the Dallas Cowboys the NBA postseason and the NBA Finals FC Dallas and the Dallas Stars. She was the producer of Univision 23 Accion Deportiva Extra and anchored it. Then, she became the sports host for the morning program of Despierta America Deportes. As a sports anchor, she worked for Primer Impacto (a network magazine) and Contacto Deportivo (a UniMas Network sports program). Antonietta Collins was born and raised in Veracruz, Mexico. The family moved in Mexico City, where Antonietta Collins was born in November 1985. She also has a younger sibling. In 1992, the family settled in Miami after moving from Mexico in the US. The couple divorced shortly after in 1995. Her mother remarried a naval architect named Fabio Fajardo who passed away from kidney cancer in 2006. In June in 2006 she took an entire week with her sister in Canton Ohio. The older Collins girl was working at the time. Antonietta was a senior in high school and was clear about the career she wanted to pursue. When she was deciding whether Mount Union would be a good fit to her needs, Antonietta decided to go visit the school. It turned out that she loved the campus and that they had the degree she was searching for. Her studies were completed and she was accepted to the University as a major studying media and communication studies. Her relationship lasted for a while with her instructor Mark Bergmann who was the director for WRMU 91.1 FM, a station of which she was an affiliate. Mark Bergmann was the person who instilled her confidence and whose passion for Journalism deeply touched her. She strived to fulfill his expectations, never letting him down.
